چکیده

The thinness of a graph is width parameter that generalizes some properties interval graphs, which are exactly the graphs one. Graphs with at most two include, for example, bipartite convex graphs. Many NP-complete problems can be solved in polynomial time bounded thinness, given suitable representation graph. Proper defined analogously, generalizing proper and larger family known to polynomially solvable thinness. complexity recognizing 2-thin still open. In this work, we present characterizations as intersection rectangles plane, vertex paths on grid (VPG graphs), by forbidden ordered patterns. We also prove independent bigraphs, permutation Finally, take step towards placing its variations landscape parameters, upper bounding terms bandwidth.

On planar intersection graphs with forbidden subgraphs

Let C be a family of n compact connected sets in the plane, whose intersection graph G(C) has no complete bipartite subgraph with k vertices in each of its classes. Then G(C) has at most n times a polylogarithmic number of edges, where the exponent of the logarithmic factor depends on k. In the case where C consists of convex sets, we improve this bound to O(n log n). If in addition k = 2, the ...

Forbidden Subgraph Colorings, Oriented Colorings and Intersection Dimensions of Graphs

This thesis deals mainly with two related coloring problems forbidden subgraph colorings and oriented colorings. The former deals with proper colorings of vertices or edges of a graph with constraints on the union of color classes. A well-known example is the acyclic vertex coloring in which we require a proper coloring such that the union of any two color classes is acyclic. Other wellstudied ...

Growth and Pattern Formation for Thin Films

Epitaxy is the growth of a thin film by attachment to an existing substrate in which the crystalline properties of the film are determined by those of the substrate. In heteroepitaxy, the substrate and film are of different materials, and the resulting mismatch between lattice constants can introduce stress into the system. We have developed an island dynamics model for epitaxial growth that is...
